KidSpeak: Central third-graders

Published by admin under Bellevue Leader, KidSpeak

The bravest thing I ever did was let a daddy-long-leg crawl up my arm and cheek. I was so scared! I didn’t realize it at first until it crawled on my cheek.
Amanda Matson

The bravest thing I ever did was kill a tarantula for my mom, I took him back home and mom said to me, “You are brave, son!”
Sebastian Mean
The bravest thing I ever did was when I got up to do my speech. I was nervous, I took a deep breath, and I did it.
Kaitlyn Marie McGrath

The bravest thing I ever did was when I jumped off the diving board without knowing how to swim. First, I was in North Carolina and I played in a water park. Next, I jumped off the diving board. Last, I went to the beach house and fell asleep. I was so brave!
Lily Briscoe

The bravest thing I ever did was fight a poisonous rattlesnake that was really close to biting me. I was only 4 or 5.
Liz Roberts

The bravest thing I have ever done is eat a fish. I do not like fish at all! Although my mom loves fish, I cannot stand the taste of fish.
Clayton Skinner

The bravest thing I ever did was when I was on a bike ride with my dad. We were riding home from school when I skidded on the curb, fell, and got a really bad cut, but I got right back up and kept on riding. That was the bravest thing I’ve ever done!
Rita Carper

The bravest thing I ever did was ride a three-wheeled bike. I kept on falling, but I went fast.
Rachel Jabens

The bravest thing I ever did was go to a new school. I got my school materials the night before the first day at Central. The next morning I woke up at seven. We didn’t know when to go, so we hurried. I was shy but my dad stayed a little bit. I had a hard time getting to know people. I was frightened the whole morning. But at the afternoon, I met lots of people. I started to know people better.

KidSpeak: Belleaire sixth graders

Published by admin under Bellevue Leader, KidSpeak

The Bellevue Leader asked sixth-grade students at Belleaire Elementary School, “What do you think makes a good friend?” Here is a sample of their answers:

Some things that make a good friend are being able to say “no” to them instead of being afraid. They should also tell you to do right and good things. Last, they should tell you to keep going and not give up.
Kasey Jones

I think a friend requires honesty. An honest person does not tell your secrets. And they tell you the truth.
Amber Bell
What I look for in a friend is someone you can talk to. Or someone you don’t mind to be around. A good friend is also someone you can trust.
Cannon Gentle

Some things I like to have from a friend are listed here. One thing is to keep a secret, if you can tell them, or a rumor might start going around school. Another thing I look for is what sports they like.
Austin Gann

I think some things that make a good friend are kindness and being able to trust him/her. You would want them to be trustworthy so they won’t tell anyone about any of your secrets. You would want them to be kind because no one wants a person that pushes you around.
Mackenzi Walker

I think a good personality makes a good friend because if they have a bad personality that friend could get you in a lot of trouble! I also think fairness makes a good friend because nobody likes a bossy friend.
Joshua Stevenson

A good friend to me is a respectful, kind person who is willing to try new things and helps, too. Who is always there for me when I’m down and always cheers me up. Those are the qualities I look for in a friend.
Adam Duffy

I like someone who is hilarious because someone who is hilarious lets you have fun. Like when you’re hanging out you can just crack some jokes and just laugh until we run out of air. I also like reliable friends. I like reliable friends because if you need someone to talk to or need help from someone they will with no answer, like “no” or “I don’t really want to.”
Paul Vogel

I feel humor would make a good friend because everyone needs a good laugh with someone. I also think that a good friend should be open and be able to tell you things. Basically, be comfortable around you.
