Making the Grade

By Executive Editor Ron Petak

A+  Dr. Richard Triplett

It’s hard to believe it’s been 16 years since he led the Bellevue Public Schools as superintendent, but for many of us oldtimers it’s hard to envision the district without him. Dr. Triplett cared deeply about education, specifically the education of Bellevue’s children, and my condolences go to out to the Triplett family on his passing.

A+  City of Bellevue

Kudos on recognizing former longtime librarian Belva Sahs by naming the road in front on the library in her honor. Belva Sahs Way has a nice ring about it.

F  Bellevue Board of Education

Monday night’s meeting has come and gone, and nary a word from any board member about how a half million dollar purchase of computer software got approved without any discussion by those same elected officials. It makes me wonder what other monies have been spent without the board knowing why they were spent.

F  College women’s softball

Something isn’t right when a shortstop has no chance to throw out a runner on a decently hit ground ball. Sixty feet between bases is absurd. Move the bases to 70 or 75 feet and improve the game.
