EDITORIAL: Fore! more years
It’s funny how things play out when a little bit of ingenuity and determination come together.
Fontenelle Hills Golf Course, long a landmark in this city, is back on course as a public recreation spot now that three men in the neighborhood – Jim Hawkins, Bob Huck and Lyle Strom – decided to do something about the on-again, off-again plans to develop more housing in the area.
The threesome is in the midst of closing on the property that makes up the front nine of the course. Their plan is to not only keep it open, but to bring it back to the status it once had — even if for just nine holes.
Course improvements have already been made, and more are sure to occur as the new owners sink their non-metal cleats into the project.
Having Fontenelle Hills remain open as a golf course is a good thing for Bellevue, as are the men who decided to invest in Bellevue’s future.
