EDITORIAL: Big hit for Bellevue

For nearly two months, we’ve gotten a glimpse of what the Hall of Fame Fields at the Cat Osterman softball complex holds for Bellevue as softball tournaments have brought players and their parents to Bellevue for a steady stream of weekend tournaments.
This week we see the big picture of the complex’s potential as the facility hosts its first stay ‘n’ play tournament that has drawn 21 boys baseball teams from such points as Arkansas, Georgia, Ohio, Virginia, Alabama, Illinois, Missouri, Colorado, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Louisiana, Utah, California and the Dominican Republic to Bellevue.
While the players and coaches stay on site, moms and dads are filling up local hotel rooms and grabbing a bite to eat at local restaurants.
It may only be the top of the first inning for the state-of-the-art complex, but already it’s delivered a big hit for Bellevue.
