Letters to the Editor

Saw it coming

Didn’t I write when the topic arose of lowering the number of people on the City Council from 10 to six and that if that became law the six would want an immediate raise because they think they are doing the work of 10?

I must pat myself on the back for seeing this and trying to warn all of you. I cannot see what the council has done that Carol Blood thinks they should have a 100 percent raise already. How many people have been on a job and expect a 100 percent raise in a year?

Let’s get it on the ballot and let the people decide. I am for a travel expense, but it should be like the military. The military pays for flights or gas and so much a day for food and motel. When the receipts are turned, they get their money back.

Blood mentioned she is losing $17 an hour sitting on the city council. Who is stopping her from resigning? She mentioned she would like to see a raise so maybe more younger people would want to be on the city council. With the city in such a mess, what young person would want to argue with the city administrator and mayor?

I also would love to see younger people on the city council, but it would have to be a person with a lot of guts. If I were on the council, I would argue until I was green in the face against some of the ordinances it comes up with. It seems like they want to stop all freedom from the people of Bellevue.

It is time to have the council try to make the people of Bellevue happy instead of trying to take away everything.
