The Bellevue Leader asked fourth-grade students at Leonard Lawrence Elementary School, “What is the best vacation you ever had and why?”
Here is a sample of their answers:

You will never believe how cool my trip to Colorado was. Although it took two days to get to Glenwood Springs, it was pretty cool because I got to swim outside in a hot springs! The next day, I went to ski at Sunlight Mountain. A funny thing happened there, because my brother wiped out while snowboarding and his face was covered with powdered snow! At the end of my trip, I bought a great souvenir at the Glenwood store. In conclusion, it was my best vacation ever.

My magnificent vacation was hilarious. I went to the pool with my grandpa and he was like my floating device when we went to the deep end. Then we played Apples to Apples and somehow I won. My favorite part was when we watched my uncle do charades and he pretended to be a baby. Clearly, this vacation was the best vacation ever.

In 2005, my summer vacation was the best vacation ever. It was cold when I went to Disney World. But two days later when I went to the animal kingdom it was so hot, my dad almost passed out. On this roller coaster, I screamed like a girl when it looped around. It was astonishing. When we got back to Disney World, I got this rare 12-inch Star Wars Boba Fett. It was the best because I got to spend time with my dad.

On New Year’s of 2009, I went to Oklahoma with my mom and my nephew Jack. When we go there, our uncle took us on his four-wheeler! Then we drove to Oklahoma City to go shopping! We all go some clothes and art supplies. Then sure enough it was time to go back home. My vacation to Oklahoma was the best vacation ever!

I went to the most spectacular place on Earth – Las Vegas. I went to the Wyndham Hotel. The pools were like the ocean! We got to go to the MGM. It was a fantabulous place to go. We also went to the Titanic. Well, of course not the one that sunk. But that would be sooo cool.

My favorite vacation was when my family and I went to South Dakota. We saw the ginormous mountains carved to look like four presidents. We went to reptile garden and we went to Flintstone park. There was a train and everything was modeled like the Flintstones. I really wish I could go back there, it was an awesome time.

My favorite vacation is when I went to Indiana to go see a Pacers basketball game. They played the Kings. The Pacers won 101-81. That was my favorite vacation.

My favorite I went on was the Great Wolf Lodge because there’s a cool water park there. Like this huge slide, it’s really dark, if you ask me! At the top of the water park there’s an enormous brown bucket filled with water and if you hear a bell, stand under it. It will tip over and SPLASH on you! That was my favorite vacation ever!
